Making Movies - I Am Another You Experience
The line to get into the Knuckleheads Garage was about two blocks long for the sold out show, Making Movies - I Am Another You Experience. The line outside was buzzing with excited chatter for the show. Making Movies recently finished their Immigrants Are Beautiful tour. At this concert and on their tour DACA recipients could attend the show for free. Upon walking in you could feel the excitement in the air. Making Movies put it all on the stage; their performance was perfection. This year they got a shout out at the Latin Grammies and with a performance like this it was clear why. The line up for the night was incredible! After Making Movies performed, they took a bunch of talented bands from Kansas City on stage with them to sing protest songs. The line up was The Hardship Letters, Hi-Lux, The Nace Brothers, Bob Walkenhorst (of The Rainmakers), The Elders, Wick (of Wick & the Tricks), Les Izmoe, and Jim Suptic (the Get Up Kids). Making Movies closed out the night playing songs from their freshly debuted EP, You Are Another Me. In addition to a great line up of talented musicians, two dancers from Quixotic joined them on stage and Simon from Quixotic did the lighting for the show. The lighting added a rich vibrance to the already incredible night. In between Making Movies and the protest songs we were delighted with more dancers doing some traditional Mexican dance. The show ended with an encore. They sand Redemption song and the crowd sang along. This was a night of unity, joy, and hope. Immigrants Are Beautiful. This was one of the best concerts I Love KC Music attended in 2017.
