The Truman

April 26, 2025

Please note that the setlist will be included for Joywave after their pics.

Here to Perform… Joywave, in support of latest album ‘Permanent Pleasure’.  The group was last in KC March 8, 2022 and well, KC welcomed them back with open hearts and energy in high spirits.

Opening the show group Little Image from Dallas, Texas. The trio set the night with dim lights of bright colors of blue and red lights and passionate energy. The crowd interaction was filled with chemistry, mirrored dancing and support They’re truly phenomenal performers. Rockers of their craft they brought an experience that captivated the audience. The crowd was part of the experience and performance as drummer Troy Bruner brought part of the kit into the crowd where a few fans held up as he played. The woos and cheers ‘shook’ the building. A fun fun time, they thanked KC before walking off stage. A perfect opener for this tour.

Oooh Joywave. Joywave Joywave Joywave. As always, they bring the literal heat. The crowd was high in energy the entire performance, packed house and singing at the top of their lungs through out the entirety. The group had the crowd get down low during ‘Tongues’ and when the lights cut back on everyone jumped, danced and sung. Playing hits such as ‘Dangerous’, the bass so heavy shaking the walls, ‘Somebody New’ off of debut album ‘How Do You Feel, Now?’ A crowd favorite. The band also hyped their 2025 Record Store Day release celebration of ten year anniversary of ‘How Do You Feel, Now?’ pressed on blue and yellow vinyl. Don’t worry if you haven’t had the chance to snag one, pay attention to Joywave’s site as it may be arriving in the next few months! On the RSD release was added track, ‘A Life In A Bubble I Blew’ initially released on their compliation album ‘SWISH’. and may I say, hearing the track live was phenomenal and such a gift. The crowd welcomed this embracingly. On April 11, 2025 Joywave released ‘Permanent Pleasure (Deluxe) including some bonus tracks such as ‘Yellowish Sunbeam’. Another gift, the song was performed. Such a good reminder to embrace the joy that is present in our lives. As the title suggests, being in the light is such a warmth and great feeling even amongst stormy waters within. Definitely felt like such and you could visibly see the crowds warmth. Although lead Daniel Armbruster was a bit under the weather, he gave his all and encouraged the crowd to help him sing along. What an individual, always giving all every time they grace the stages in KC. This encouraged the crowd even more to enjoy the night with all their might. Joywave as a group always deliver their strength of character, light and energy that is created in their frequency of sound and is always received well in the city of Kansas City. The group also gave a great joy of providing Double Destruction closing out the night. KC anticipated the groups return and will be excited for the next round back. Thanks, Thanks for coming Joywave. ‘Permanent Pleasure’ was surely felt this night, and a night that won’t be easily forgotten.
