Midcoast Takeover Fundraiser #1
Every year some of the best Kansas City bands head down to Austin Texas for a great big party. The Midwest Music Foundation is hosting the 9th Annual MidCoast Takeover. The event began in 2010 as a group of musicians and music lovers gathering for a Kansas City-focused showcase at the nation’s largest music festival in Austin, Texas. The showcase has grown into a four-day, two-stage event. Taking musicians to Austin reflects attention back on the vibrant music scenes in Kansas City and throughout the Midwest.
Leading up to this great big party, the Midwest Music Foundation holds fundraisers to make this event successful. The bands donate their time and the money raised funds the showcase. Although there are lots of volunteers who help make it run smoothly, it takes a lot of money to show off all the talent that KC has at the Midcoast Takeover. Midcoast is funded separately from their other programs. If there is any extra funding it gots to stipends that performing bands get.
The first Midcoast Takeover Fundraiser this year was held at the recordBar. Three excellent bands kicked off the event-Verbose, Squids KC, and Ex Acrobat. It was a fun night!
The next fundraiser will be this Saturday February 24 at the recordBar with Broken Arrows, Chris Meck and The Guilty Birds, and Headlight Rivals. The doors are at 9:30 and the Broken Arrows start at 10. Kansas City, let's make this year a huge success and get out to the fundraiser on the 24th.

Squids KC playing a mix of punk, rock, and power pop.
